Deputy Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya
The lawyer of the National Deputy Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has argued before the Free State High Court that self-stylized whistleblower, Patricia Morgan-Mashale has no credible evidence to back-up her accusations of corruption against Sibiya.
Morgan-Mashale is facing a lawsuit after posting on social media alleging that Sibiya interfered with the crime scene in Senzo Meyiwa’s murder case and received bribes from mining mogul, Louis Liebenberg.
Sibiya’s lawyer, Advocate Kameel Pramhid says Morgan-Mashale uses social media to gain whistleblower financial support, more social media followers and attention from news outlets.
Pramhid argued that Morgan-Mashale failed to report any wrongdoing to relevant authorities instead, she acted as a police chief.
“In a statement that has been made in her answering affidavit, that you will be called as a witness but with all due respect my lord, that’s absolute nonsense. We are in motion proceedings and in motion proceedings you are supposed to attach evidence to the affidavit. So, there’s no escape realm that you can trigger or escape route that you can take, to say at some point I’m going to call a witness to confirm what I’ve said. And let’s just think about this in the context of defamation proceedings, it means that at the time you had uttered your defamation, you didn’t have the evidence in front of you,”
