Lt Gen Mkhwanazi
Organisers of a march in support of KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi say preparations are going according to plan.
Scores of people are expected to participate in the planned “Hands off Mkhwanazi” march set to take place on Friday.
Civil society groups, businesses and various unions are expected to participate.
IPID is probing Mkhwanazi after allegations from an anonymous complaint that he interfered with investigations against an official at a prison facility in KwaZulu-Natal.
One of the organisers, Vincent Mdunge says they have decided to intervene and raise sharp issues.
“The citizens of this country have taken to it to heart that they see the provincial commissioner under siege from various political people. We have then decided to intervene and mobilize the society, police unions and members of the community will be joining in tomorrow and the fundamental objectives is to raise sharp issues on the attacks that are directed at provincial commissioner”.
