R200 billion to tackle Joburg’s pothole, water, power woes: Morero

City of Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says they will need about R200 billion to fix the deteriorating infrastructure of the City as a whole. This backlog includes among others, potholes, water and electricity.

Morero has also revealed that the city is on a campaign to raise another R100 billion in the next five years. He says the intention is to start investing in and maintaining the infrastructure.

Morero was speaking ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit, where he is expected to be briefed by the zonal committee leadership on the Klip River wetlands pollution.
