Light plane makes emergency landing on Durban beach

A light aircraft had to make an emergency landing on the beach near Blue Lagoon in Durban this morning.

It’s believed that the aircraft was heading towards Virginia Airport a few kilometers to the north of the city. No one was injured in the incident.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says the occupants were assessed on the scene.

“Paramedics met with the eThekwini Fire Department and made their way to the closest access point and then walked for some kilometers to gain access to the place where the incidents had occurred. It’s believed that the plane somehow made an emergency landing for reasons unknown; however, all occupants sustained no injuries. ALS paramedics attended the scene together with all necessary authorities. The scene is still active, and all the necessary people will be investigating the scene further,” says Jamieson.
