A 42-year-old Eldorado Park police officer accused of the murder of his 22-year-old Gauteng crime warden girlfriend, Chesnay Keppler, is expected back in the Protea Magistrate’s Court today for a bail hearing.

Mandla Buthelezi is accused of shooting and killing Keppler after a domestic dispute in December last year.

Buthelezi had previously been hospitalised after attempting to take his own life.

A few days after Buthelezi was discharged from the hospital, he appeared in court where the case was postponed.

In February, Buthelezi was expected to appear via a video link for his hearing, however, the case was postponed due to a power outage.

Chesnay’s family is demanding justice for her murder.

They say the suspect should not be given bail.
