Limpopo premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has acknowledged that the province has regressed in water provision.
Water provision in the province has regressed to 64.2%.
Residents in the Seshego, Giyani and Sekhukhune areas are amongst the hardest hit.
As the country celebrates Human Rights Day, the right to access sufficient water is not enjoyed by many residents.
Ramathuba says they’ve established a task team to address water shortages.
“We acknowledge that water access in Limpopo has regressed to 64.2%, leaving 35.8% of our people without this necessity. The growing population is adding to the burden of ailing water infrastructure across municipalities. The provincial water task team with its technical working group, under the leadership of the office of the premier, has since been established.”
