The case against a man who allegedly killed his stepdaughter has been postponed to next Monday at the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court, outside Polokwane in Limpopo.
Forty-eight-year-old Andrew Mehlape allegedly stabbed to death 14-year-old Rebotile Moloto on Friday morning while she was walking to school at Ga-Thoka, outside Mankweng.
Limpopo police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the incident followed an altercation between Moloto’s mother and Mehlape the night before.
Magistrate Arshard Chaya postponed the case for Mehlape’s legal aid application to be considered.
“This case is postponed to 24 March 2025, for your profile and your legal aid bail application, you will remain in custody until then,” said the Magistrate. – Reporting by Jostina Masedi.
