A police officer testifying in the trial of seven-year-old Joshlin Smith at the Western Cape High Court sitting in Saldanha Bay says the child’s mother, Kelly, did not take part in any search for the little girl.
Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith, her boyfriend, Jacquen Appollis, and a third co-accused, Steveno van Rhyn face charges of kidnapping and trafficking in connection with the little girl’s disappearance.
Sergeant Meyer Milstein testified that Kelly said she received a call from someone who demanded a ransom.
Milstein told the court that the call was linked to someone in Bloemfontein who had no knowledge of Kelly.
The trial continues.
