SAPS to destroy confiscated drugs
The National Police Commissioner Fanie Masemola says the police will today destroy drugs worth over R300 million in street value.
He was briefing the media earlier ahead of the Forensic Science Laboratories in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape overseeing the destruction of illicit drugs through incineration.
These substances and drugs include mandrax, methamphetamine, cocaine, and various other narcotics.
Masemola says they will today destroy 800 kilograms of drugs, with an excess street value of R34o million.
“About a year ago, we gathered at this very plant to destroy R550 million worth of drugs. In three years, we have destroyed various types of drugs worth R5.2m,”says Masemola.
