The aftermath of heavy rains and winds in the Eastern Cape.
More than ten households at Mpunzana Village outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape have been destroyed by a storm, while it is alleged that several people have been injured in the nearby Macosa Village.
The storm that happened yesterday has also destroyed infrastructure as power lines are down.
One of the victims Xoliswa Gamnka says they are trying to mend their houses while waiting for the OR Tambo District Municipality Disaster Management to intervene.
“There was a strong wind that came around three and took off the rooftops of our houses. The zinc rolled while we were still inside the house, we were shocked and started running to our neighbours.”
