Police launch manhunt for Stilfontein underground kingpin, a Lesotho national, James Neo Tshoaeli, commonly known as ‘Tiger’.
Four police officers suspected to have assisted alleged Stilfontein illegal mining kingpin Neo Tshoaeli are expected to appear in a local Magistrates’ Court in the North West today.
The police officers arrested in January are Jack Motlhabya, Menzi Shabalala, Ntutuko Dladla and Samkelo Mbotho. The four accused are facing two counts of defeating the ends of justice.
They are currently out on bail.
This after Tshoaeli, who is popularly known as Tiger, escaped when he was retrieved from underground at a disused mine during a government-led operation.
Tshoaeli was retrieved from shaft 11 on the 15th of January but never made it to police holding cells and is still on the run.
