Entrance to the Zanzou nightclub in Pretoria.
One of the Zanzou nightclub directors Neo Moela has condemned the assault incident at the club and has apologised to the victims for their ordeal.
Moela was addressing the media through his lawyer advocate Zola Majavu in Johannesburg today.
A video has since emerged and gone viral on social media showing men being physically and sexually assaulted at the Pretoria nightclub.
One person has been arrested and appeared in court yesterday.
It emerged in court that another victim has been traced, bringing the number of complainants to seven.
Majavu says the police have not given an indication they are treating him as a suspect.
“If anything, the police are engaging with him as a person from whom they can source some information to enable them to decide whatever they want to do. It has been reported in the media that other people are being sought, those people who are being sought and pursued by the police are non-other than him. Because he is here, the police know how to get hold of him. They have engaged with him. My client felt that it was important as a South African to come out in the open and say I am the director of this entity. And I’m prepared to be held accountable. He’s not about to leave the country. He’s not going anywhere,” says Majavu.
