Tshwane to start disciplinary proceedings against suspended CFO

The City of Tshwane is set to start disciplinary proceedings against its Chief Financial Officer, Gareth Mnisi. This after the metro council rejected his written representations against his precautionary suspension.

Mnisi has now been placed on precautionary suspension following allegations of tender rigging and procurement irregularities raised during testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

Mnisi, who joined the City of Tshwane in 2023, is said to have a fleet of luxurious cars and multiple properties, which he might have allegedly acquired unlawfully.

The council says the disciplinary process will allow for an independent investigation into the allegations, while ensuring due process is followed.

It added that Mnisi is expected to appear before the commission on Friday 17 April 2026 and that his testimony will be closely monitored to see if it will further guide its investigation.

Meanwhile, City of Tshwane Divisional head in the budget office, Nthabiseng Mokete, has been appointed to act in the CFO position.

Mokete will act on a month-to-month basis.
