Toilet paper initiative helps clear students’ debts

More than 175  financially struggling students from tertiary institutions across the country are now debt free, after receiving assistance to clear their debt by Non-Profit Organization “WE-SOLVE-4”.

The NPO is a social impact organisation dedicated to education funding, youth empowerment, and community development.

Since 2021 it has assisted students from various tertiary institutions and settled more than R2.8 million in student debt through its innovative Ntofo Ntofo Student Debt Stokvel.

Founder of the Organisation, Tsietsi Ngobese, says the majority of their funding is obtained via it’s socially conscious Ntofo Ntofo Toilet Paper brand.

Tsietsi Ngobese says, “We have launched our fund raising initiative where we manufacture and sell toilet paper and it’s called ntofo ntofo toilet paper and the tag line is toilet paper with purpose. So for every pack we sell, we raise funds for assisting so the public can assist us by supporting our toilet paper products in some stores and online where our product is listed.”

Dino Kharive, a mechanical engineering graduate from Wits University is one of the beneficiaries of WE-SOLVE-4.

Kharive who was over R100 000 in debt, says his dream of obtaining his degree would not have been possible without the financial assistance he received from the organisation.

Dino Kharive says, “So at the time I think I had just submitted my final project because I was doing my final year and I was owing fees so what was going to happen was that I was not going to be able to graduate and get my degree certificate, but when I saw the campaign I then reached out to them to assist with settling the balance on my fee statement.”
