A 17-year-old male has died after he was stabbed outside the University of Fort Hare Alice Campus in the Eastern Cape.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana says the incident happened on Saturday evening, and that the stabbing followed a fight.
The victim succumbed to his injuries at the Victoria Hospital in Alice. It is unclear whether the deceased was a student.
Gantana says there was another stabbing incident at the campus on Sunday morning.
“The victim was taken to hospital, where his condition worsened, and he died around 12:40. Detectives are following all leads. In another separate incident, a University of Fort Hare student was allegedly stabbed at the Alice campus on Sunday morning. The victim, who was receiving medical care, has requested an opportunity to process the incident before proceeding with legal action against the individual involved.”
