Suspect arrested in connection with Nhlamulo Sambo’s death

Police have arrested a 23-year-old suspect in connection with the death of a teenager in Mossel Bay in the Western Cape.

Nhlamulo Sambo was stabbed to death in the early hours of Sunday morning, amidst unrest against undocumented foreign nationals in the Kwanonqaba township.

Police Spokesperson Novela Potela says the suspect will appear in court soon.

Police have, however, said that Sambo’s killing was not related to the unrest.

Two Mozambican nationals were killed on Friday night during the unrest.

Calm has returned to the area and there is a strong police presence.

Over 50 shacks were destroyed, which left hundreds displaced.
