North West-based businessman Suliman Carrim will not appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria this Monday.
This after being declared medically unfit to testify.
Carrim will now testify on June 25, 2026.
He is accused of lending alleged underworld kingpin Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala R10 million to service a SAPS tender which has since been cancelled.
Carrim’s legal representative, Advocate Kameel Premhid, submitted an application to the commission requesting that his client’s appearance be postponed.
Evidence leader Matthew Chaskalson informed the commission that a medical report detailing Carrim’s condition had been provided to support the postponement application.
“There’s been a fairly lengthy to-ing and fro-ing in correspondence, the upshot of which was that on Friday, a current medical report was furnished, a fairly detailed current medical report was furnished, indicating that Mr Karim is not fit to appear today. I want to emphasise that we’ve given an undertaking to Mr Karim through his legal team that we won’t disclose details of what’s contained in the medical report.”
