Western Cape Mobility Minister Isaac Sileku, has welcomed the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA’s) announcement of service improvements on the Malmesbury line, set to take effect from Monday.
The changes aim to provide faster travel times and a more reliable schedule for commuters. A key feature is the introduction of an express service through Eikenfontein Station, aimed at reducing overcrowding and improving service reliability.
“The improvements form part of the provincial government’s broader plan to restore passenger rail as the backbone of public transport in the province. He says the department will continue working with PRASA to monitor the impact of the changes and ensure passenger rail remains a practical and reliable option for residents.”
