Prominent taxi boss Madoda “Joe Ferrari” Sibanyoni and three co-accused appear Kwaggafontein Magistrate’s Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed that businessman Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and co-accused Oupa Sindane have served them with court papers.
The NPA says the pair is challenging the arrest warrants issued against them.
The matter will be heard on Tuesday next week in the Mbombela High Court.
The NPA, however, says Thursday’s court proceedings to re-enrol the case of Sibanyoni, Daniel Masilela, Philemon Msiza and Bafana Sindane will proceed as planned.
They are facing charges of extortion and money laundering.
NPA spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago spoke to reporters outside the Delmas Magistrate’s Court earlier, saying, “As far as we are concerned, they have to be here because this is not an interdict as yet; they have just served the papers. Therefore, the court will take it from there to say, based on what happened, how are we going to take it further?”
