N1 highway reopened between Worcester and Paarl in the Boland

The Western Cape Department of Mobility says the N-1 highway in both directions between Worcester and Paarl in the Boland has been reopened.

The department says motorists should, however, expect heavy delays.

Provincial Traffic Chief Maxine Bezuidenhout says stop-and-go operations and traffic controls are set in place at the Rawsonville weighbridge.

She says the operations will remain in place from the Cape Town side until the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) confirms readiness to open one Southbound lane.

Bezuidenhout says the Du Toitskloof Pass is currently open from the Worcester direction only.

No vehicles carrying hazardous materials will be allowed to use the Huguenot Tunnel, but will be allowed to use the Du Toitskloof Pass.
