Dispersed foreign nationals vow to spend night outside Durban Centre

Some foreign nationals have vowed to spend the night outside a refugee centre in central Durban, after they were dispersed from the local police station earlier on Tuesday. Hundreds of foreign nationals, including young children, spent Monday night outside the Durban Central Police Station seeking protection from authorities.

On Tuesday police instructed the group to disperse, but the foreign nationals later marched through the city in protest.

Three people were reportedly injured, allegedly after police fired rubber bullets during the confrontation.

The foreign nationals claim they are facing harassment, intimidation and victimisation from some local community members amid escalating tensions following recent protests against undocumented migrants.
