Carrim won’t be testifying at Madlanga Commission on Wednesday

North-West businessman Suleiman Carrim will not be testifying at the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria on Wednesday after being confined to a bed due to an illness.

The Commission will resume on Thursday with a new witness.

This has been confirmed by evidence leader Matthew Chaskalson, following the conclusion of testimony by suspended Tshwane Deputy Police Chief Umashi Dhlamini.

Carrim, who was scheduled to appear before the Commission this month, is unable to do so after suffering a heart attack.

Advocate Chaskalson elaborates, “Mr. Carrim was due to appear tomorrow. We have received a medical certificate indicating that he’s confined to bed. We were then hoping to proceed with Mr. Mukhotse tomorrow, but he’s de facto secured a postponement by applying for my recusal. So, we no longer have a witness for tomorrow. So, we will have to resume on Thursday.”
