BMA Border Guard seen facilitating movement of travellers moving through the port.
The Border Management Authority (BMA) says it will be monitoring its officials closely to ensure that they are not involved in the illegal movement of goods and undocumented foreign nationals at the Beitbridge border between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi says over 50 corrupt officials have been dismissed after they were found to be non-compliant with security measures at the port of entry.
Mogotsi says, “If there are officials that are facilitating this, from the side of border management; I assure you, there will be consequence management.”
“We are not apologetic on our anti-corruption stance. We are not apologetic on stance illegal activities. We are cleaning out. You will remember that in the past two months, we were able to announce that 50 of our officials were dismissed out of the BMA system because of those activities that are tarnishing the image of the BMA,” adds Mogotsi.
