South African men’s sevens team
The South African men’s sevens team had mixed results on day one of the Hong Kong event, while the women lost both their matches.
The men beat Uruguay 12-7 in their opening encounter, but Spain gave them a 31-12 hiding in the 2nd match.
The Blitzboks will have to beat Argentina on day 2 to keep their chances alive.

The women’s team lost 33- 0 against Australia in their opening game.
Canada also ran away with the scoreline in their 2nd game, beating the South Africans 31- 0.
The South African women take on Great Britain in their final group game on day 2.
