ANCYL President Cde Collen Malatji addresses the media media on the ANC NEC meeting outcomes on 27 February 2025.
African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) President, Collen Malatji, says the party’s reconfiguration of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal should not be viewed as a “purge” by some members of the party.
Malatji’s comments come as the ANC has announced newly-reconfigured provincial task teams this week.
They will replace the Provincial Executive Committees in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Malatji says the newly-appointed structures have been put in place to ensure that the ANC gains some lost ground in the two provinces after the 2024 national elections.
“And even those that were in the last PEC were not pushed out in the street because you can’t afford people who are disgruntled to organise against the ANC they’ve been put in. The reconfiguration of structures was not a process of purging comrades. It was a process of reinforcing and building a strong team to resolve the problems we are faced with,” says Malatji.
