Political parties remain divided over Ramaphosa’s SONA

Political parties represented in Parliament have mixed reactions to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of The Nation Address.

Some say his speech was wishful thinking and others say Ramaphosa continues to make promises he will not fulfil.
They argue that Ramaphosa promises jobs but is de-industrialising the economy.

Labour Federation Cosatu is calling for more action from the government. The trade union federation’s Coordinator, Matthew Parks says Ramaphosa’s address to the nation is welcomed, but action needs to be seen.

Parks says with an economy growing at just 1% and an unemployment rate among the youth at almost 42%, more action is needed.
