The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (Natjoints) says all its deployments are in place ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) in the Cape Town City Hall this evening.
The structure is responsible for coordinating all security and law enforcement operations throughout the country.
It says the South African Police Service (SAPS), State Security Agency (SSA) and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) held regular meetings with the NATJOINTS structure in the build-up to the address.

SAPS Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says disruptions will not be tolerated.
“Any lawlessness, criminality or behaviour that contravenes the law will be dealt with accordingly. We are thus confident that Thursday evening’s address will take place with minimal to zero incidents. The NATJOINTS wishes to remind communities that the airspace around the City Hall will be restricted during the State of the Nation address for both manned and unmanned aircraft. No drones will be allowed from 7 o’clock Thursday morning to 10pm later in the evening.”
