Public sector wage increase negotiations resume

Public sector wage negotiations have resumed with a new wage increase offer of 5% percent from government.

Workers are engaged in negotiations at the Public Service Co-ordinating Bargaining Council ahead of the 2025/26 financial year.

The workers’ demands have been revised down several times, from an initial 12% to a current 6%.

The parties are hoping to conclude the wage talks before the tabling of the national budget by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana in February.
