Scuffle breaks out between Mashatile’s security, Khayelitsha resident

A brief scuffle broke out between the VIP security personnel of the Deputy President of the African National Congress (ANC) and a resident of Khayelitsha in Cape Town.

Mashatile and other ANC leaders are interacting with communities ahead of the party’s January 8th Statement this coming weekend.

The party’s 113th year of existence will be held in Khayelitsha, it is a strong hold in the province.

On the first stop of his door-to-door visit in the township, Mashatile met a resident who runs a soup kitchen from her house.

However, the woman’s son did not want politicians in the house, shouting that they must leave.

The young man, with a toddler on his hip, entered the lounge where Mashatile was sitting but was intercepted by VIP security members.

As he was removed, he still shouted that he did not want politicians in his mother’s house and that he could not be manhandled in his home.

Mashatile apologised to the family for the hard-handed treatment.
