Two suspects are expected to apply for bail at the Durban Magistrates’ Court next Monday in connection with the murder of businessman Shailen Singh.

Brothers Darren and Farrel Govender were arrested after Singh was found shot dead in the parking lot of a restaurant in Umhlanga, north of Durban, over a week ago.

The 32-year-old businessman owned a trucking and security company and leaves behind a two-month-old child.

Singh’s father, Pradeep Singh, is calling for bail to be denied until someone takes responsibility for the murder.

“They haven’t printed words to describe what we are going through. I relayed the message to my wife, and she phoned me back a couple of minutes later asking if I made a mistake in what I told her. I told her no, it’s the reality. It was always his mother, child, and wife that were his priority. He would do anything for his wife and son. They are shattered, and nobody has the right to take somebody’s life and rob a two-month-old child of a very bright future,” says Pradeep Singh.
