Two Democratic Alliance (DA) members in the Western Cape are set to lay charges of crimen injuria today against the woman who allegedly hurled racial slurs against the Coloured community, while on a FlySafair flight from Durban to Cape Town.
In various viral videos of the incident, the woman can be seen attacking crew members and hurling racial slurs at them.
The provincial Minister of Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers, says he will be heading to the Bishop Lavis police station to formally open a case.
Simmers says, “As crimen injuria is a crime in South African law, that is an intentional and unlawful violation of another person’s dignity. The rule and the processes of law must reaffirm that we are all citizens with the same rights.”
