The Kingdom of Lesotho is opening up its water economy to create more investment opportunities for the foreign direct investment market.
Trout producer SanLei, which is located on the shores of the Katse Dam in the remote highlands of Lesotho, is known for its deep, pristine waters and highly favourable environment for farming trout.
It is the first farm and hatchery to achieve the Best Aquaculture Practices certification in the Kingdom of Lesotho and in Southern Africa.

The deep, pristine water provides a near-perfect environment for growing premium trout, which has become a delicacy for many South Africans, Europeans, and, of late, the US.
The Japanese call it SanLei, loosely translated to mean where the mountains meet the sky.
This business initiative is backed by one of Lesotho’s private entity funds, which aims to see improved food security and has an investment that sits fully in the country and intends to fully develop and expand the aqua industry that is 100% run by Basotho.
