Thousands of uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party supporters are expected to attend its 1st anniversary celebrations at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium this weekend.
Led by former President Jacob Zuma, it was barely 5 months old when it shook up the country’s political landscape in May’s general elections.
The party obtained the most votes in KwaZulu-Natal with 45.3 percent.
However, it did not win an outright majority, forcing the formation of a government of provincial unity.
The party holds 58 seats in Parliament.
Speaking on the preparation for the anniversary, Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu says the party was shifting its focus to the 2026 Local Government Elections.
