Umkhonto WeSizwe Liberation War Veterans say they are relieved that the remains of liberation hero Aaron Tiro have been returned home.
Tiro is being reburied today in his home in Lekubu village outside Zeerust in the North West.
His remains were repatriated from Zambia. These veterans have described the reburial as a moment of closure.
They also say it is a significant step in honouring those who sacrificed their lives for South Africa’s freedom.
“We are very excited. We are very happy that finally the mortals of one of our own comrade Tiro came back to the land of his birth in South Africa particularly in Zeerust where we are.”
“We are very humble and then we are rejoicing the life of comrade Tiro.”
