ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula briefing the media.
The African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says the release of Chri Hani’s killer Janusz Walus without a full confession of his actions is an injustice. Earlier, the Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni announced that Walus will be deported to Poland.

He was sentenced to death for the assassination of Hani in 1993 and was placed on parole in 2022 for a period of two years.
Mbalula was briefing the media in Johannesburg this afternoon.
“We call on the conscience of Janusz Walus to tell the whole truth about the forces that orchestrated this heinous act. We call for a comprehensive inquiry into the assassination of Comrade Chris Hani to expose the full scope of this crime and bring closure to his family, the ANC and the people of South Africa. South Africa is no home for assassins and murderers, Walus must leave the country now.”
Illegal foreign nationals
Mbalula has also called on communities to ensure that residents who aid illegal foreign nationals and perpetuate criminal activities face the full might of the law.
This as the country grapples with issues of illegal mining activities and a spike of foodborne illnesses which some have linked to counterfeit goods allegedly sold by foreign-owned spaza shops. There have been mounting calls for the deportation of illegal foreign nationals.
Mbalula says citizens have a duty to safeguard their country.
“The illegal criminal activity must be wiped out. South Africans must work and we must work together to get rid of these illegal activities. And we must clamp down as we do right now those illegal spaza shops, particularly by foreign nationals. And those who are found (to be contravening the law) must be deported with immediate effect. The people of South Africa must become the eyes and ears of government to act decisively.”
