Mashaba criticises Ramaphosa for relaxing visas for Nigerians

ActionSA president Herman Mashaba has lambasted President Cyril Ramaphosa for relaxing visa requirements for Nigerian citizens.

Earlier this week, the President announced that Nigerian businesses would be granted a five-year multiple-entry visa to simplify trade between the two countries.

The Presidency says this is part of ongoing visa reforms aimed at attracting investors to the country.

Mashaba says this is incomprehensible considering what South Africa is currently going through.

“Right now, SA is in the midst of a crisis where we’re losing children left, right and centre, where we have one of the most porous borders in the world, for the President to take a decision at a time where South Africans are actually crying for his intervention to protect us. And our concern is that who’s next?”
