President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses the South Africa – Nigeria Business RoundTable in Cape Town on December 3, 2024.
Cabinet has defended President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent reshuffle.
On Tuesday night, Ramaphosa announced that Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi would take over Thembi Simelane’s Justice and Constitutional Development portfolio.
Simelane is now in charge of Kubayi’s portfolio.
There is widespread criticism of the Cabinet reshuffle.
Briefing the media at Parliament yesterday, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says, “The appointment, disappointment, and removal and shifting and movement of ministers is the sole prerogative of the President and I can’t provide answers to it. It’s not Cabinet’s answers, we don’t discuss it. You are either called and informed, and that is the discussion between the Minister and the President.”
