The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has won the by-election held at Ward 9 in Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo, that includes parts of Dysselsdorp, Schoemanshoek and other outlying areas.
Ferlecia Abrahams from the PA went up against candidates from the Democratic Alliance (DA), the African National Congress (ANC) and the Greater Oudtshoorn Civic Association.
The by-election follows former PA councillor, Bertram Jantjies, joining the DA.
This was the second by-election in the ward this year.
Oudtshoorn is governed by an ANC and Freedom Front Plus coalition.
