Political Analyst Dr Alexander Rusero says with South Africa assuming the G20 Presidency, Africa’s voice will for the first time be heard.

Rusero says now is a chance for Africa to actively participate on a big platform as a strategic player, rather than a stereotyped continent in need of aid.

President Cyril Ramaphosa officially launched South Africa’s G20 Presidency earlier today at a media conference in Parliament.

Rusero elaborates, “I am very sure Africa’s voice, which has been placed on the peripheries for a long time will for the first time be heard on critical platforms such as the G20. So, we cherish and believe in South Africa taking lead in this process to ensure that the urgency of Africa which has been placed on the peripheries for a long time is being revitalised.”
