Gauteng Finance and Economic Development MEC Lebogang Maile says his Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement will make additional resources to deal with unavoidable costs.
Maile delivered the province’s Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement in Johannesburg this morning.
He says the adjustments will protect frontline services and curb any job losses.
“The speech is about in the main, availing R2.1 billion for the adjustments to look at unforeseeable and unavoidable costs. And some of the areas to be covered are health and education.”
“And we are not going to retrench. There are rolled-over funds available … we will deal with any issue in the main budget in 2025,” adds Maile.
