Expired food items, counterfeit prescription medication, body lotion and other prohibited goods are pictured at a warehouse in Bluff in Durban during a police raid on 20 November 2024.
KwaZulu-Natal police say they have intensified operations to detect vessels entering the country that are carrying prohibited items and products.
This follows a raid at several warehouses in the Bluff area south of Durban yesterday.
Police discovered expired food items like canned fish and soya beans, expired alcoholic beverages and baby food stored alongside pesticides.
Counterfeit prescription medication and body lotion were also found.
During the operation, police also discovered two warehouses storing counterfeit clothing items worth millions of rands.

Meanwhile, National Police Commissioner Senzo Mchunu has commended the police force for their hard work during the raid.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi says since the start of the Provincial Council Against Crime initiative, whistleblowers are more willing to work with law enforcement agencies to report warehouses that are used to store expired food.
Communities in the province are encouraged to get more involved and work with the police.
