Western Cape High Court, where the trial of alleged underworld kingpin Jerome Booysen is being held.
The case of alleged underworld crime boss Jerome Booysen has been remanded to the end of next month in the Western Cape High Court.
A new witness, who is a police officer, took the stand to testify on evidence relating to a meeting that allegedly took place in April 2017.
This is related to a group of individuals gathered at the food outlet who were later going to go intimidate club owners at Cape Town CBD.
Following the evidence led by the state, the defence counsel of Jerome Booysen cross-examined the witness on inconsistencies in his testimony.
The witness testified that when he arrived at the scene, he observed a large group of people moving around three taxis and four other vehicles, and that occupants from the taxis approached.
Furthermore, when police officers arrived at the scene, the occupants of the five vehicles evaded the police.
Advocate Amanda Nel put it to the witness that his version of events is different to that of the investigating officer who sent him.
Nel further questioned the witness as to why his statement was not commissioned, further pointing out that a screenshot of vehicle registrations that the witness says he took and sent to the captain was not mentioned in the witness’s evidence in chief.
