File: The late Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain, Senzo Meyiwa captured during a match.
The defence is expected to call a new witness when the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial resumes in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday.
This after Nthabiseng Leletlhaka, a Sergeant stationed at the Villieria Police Station, concluded her evidence in chief on Friday.
The defence was expected to call another witness, but the court heard that their commander refused to release him to testify without a court order.
Legal counsel Sipho Ramosepele, representing one of the accused, Bongani Ntanzi, said the witness was important because he investigated another matter in which Ntanzi was mentioned.
Ntanzi and four other men are on trial for the 2014 murder of the late Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, who was shot and killed at his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus.
Ramosepele told the court: “My lord, the witness is compatible, section 179 deals with these issues for the witness to be subpoenaed by the court.”
