A bus has been stoned on the N3 near Estcourt in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands in the early hours of Saturday morning. Provincial Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesperson, Sindi Msimang says the incident took place at 04h00.
Msimang says the motive for the stoning is unclear at this stage.
Meanwhile, KwaZulu Natal police say they remain on high alert for Saturday’s planned strike by the All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa (ATDF-ASA).

Arrests
Meanwhile, an official from the All Truck Driver Forum of South Africa (ATDFSA), along with two truck drivers, has been arrested on charges of incitement to violence on the N3 near Bergville in KwaZulu-Natal.
The ATDFSA has called for a nationwide shutdown on Saturday, protesting the continued employment of foreign nationals as truck drivers.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says a police patrol spotted a group of about 10 people next to a bakkie on the side of the road in the early hours of this morning. The group fled when the police approached.
The arrests were made when two truck drivers approached the area in a car to pick up the forum’s office bearer – whose bakkie was abandoned. Netshiunda says it is possible that this group could be linked to the stoning of a truck near the Colenso interchange a short while earlier.
“Police were conducting patrols along the N3 when they noticed that the traffic was moving slowly until it came to a standstil. When police went to investigate they found about 10 people stopping trucks. Realizing the presence of the police, the suspects fled into the bushes, and abandoned their vehicle – a white Isuzu bakkie – with all doors open. Preliminary investigations uncovered that the bakkie belonged to a prominent ATDFSA office bearer. Inside the bakkie police found an ATDFSA banner and stones,” Netshiunda explains.
