Brown Mogotsi at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on May 25, 2026.
North West-based alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi is expected to continue his bail application in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning.
He appeared in court more than a week ago when the matter was postponed to allow investigators to verify his residential address in Mahikeng.
Mogotsi was arrested about two weeks ago.
He is facing charges, including defeating the ends of justice, stemming from allegations that he staged his own assassination attempt in Vosloorus, East Rand, on November last year.
During Mogotsi’s court appearance on Monday, he claimed that the state’s case is built on speculation and weak evidence.
The court also heard how Mogotsi tried to bribe an investigating officer when he was in custody following his arrest.
State Prosecutor Adv Thami Mpekane read an affidavit revealing the damning allegation and also accused him of misleading investigators and frustrating attempts to trace him.
Through his lawyers, Mogotsi denied the charges against him, saying he did not fake the assassination attempt against him.
The state has opposed his release on bail.
