Six people have been shot dead in two separate incidents in Khayelitsha on the Cape Flats.
Western Cape Police Spokesperson Andrè Traut says officers responded to reports of gunshots in Makhaza on Sunday night, where three men were found dead inside an informal dwelling.
He says in a second incident, three men were shot and killed at a shebeen in Endlovini during the early hours of Monday morning.
The suspects in both incidents fled the scenes and have not yet been arrested, while the motives for the shootings remain under investigation.
Traut says, “Western Cape SAPS has mobilised additional resources following the deadly shootings in Makhaza and Harare in which six men lost their lives within hours of each other. ”
He says, “A team of experienced detectives attached to the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is pursuing all available leads to trace and apprehend those responsible, while police deployments have been increased in the affected areas to stabilise the situation and prevent any further violence .”
