Meyiwa family and supporters to protest at the Union Buildings

Civil organisations, supporters and family members of the late former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa are expected to march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Tuesday.

They are demanding faster progress in his long-running murder trial.

Meyiwa was killed in October 2014, but his murder trial has not yet been concluded in the High Court in Pretoria.

Participants of the march have voiced deep frustration over the 12-year delay.

They have suggested that the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry intervene to expedite the legal process.

The family is expected to call for urgent intervention from the presidency, saying the case has taken too long to conclude.

They say the long delay in the trial has caused continued pain and frustration.

The case remains before the high court, where the five accused are still facing murder charges. Proceedings are ongoing.
