File: Chairperson and commissioners at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.
A new witness is expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission on Monday morning, as the inquiry continues hearing evidence relating to drug seizures by South African law enforcement agencies.
This week’s proceedings follow testimony heard last week concerning the alleged drug theft at the Hawks offices in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal.
Witnesses have detailed how 541 kilograms of drugs were allegedly stolen from the premises in November 2021.
Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels says the inquiry will focus on developments in Gauteng, as investigations continue into allegations of corruption and criminal infiltration in the criminal justice system.
The Madlanga Commission’s hearings in the week ahead will continue to focus on drug seizures by South African law enforcement agencies, as well as the handling and theft or disappearance of narcotic substances in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.https://t.co/MU2CWN1Ot2#GovZAUpdates
