File: A person holds up a sign against shielding of rapists.
The family of a deaf 15-year-old girl, who was raped allegedly by a security guard at a school in Ekurhuleni last year, is seeking justice.
The suspect was arrested in August last year and was later released on bail.
He is expected in court this month.
The family says the teenager has not been the same since the repeated rape incidents.
The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed that the security guard has since been suspended.
The young girl’s mother, who cannot be named to protect the child’s identity, believes that the delay in justice is further traumatising her child.
“She has been in pain and hurt. When sitting with her you can see, sometimes when you talk to her, she would get angry. Then you would notice that the problem is what has happened. It’s an elderly person who did that to her. He’s even older than me, the mother.”
