Hlabisa urges peaceful campaigning ahead of 2026 LGE

Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Velenkosini Hlabisa has called for peaceful and non-confrontational campaigning.

This follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of the 4th of November as the day for local government polls.

Hlabisa will soon proclaim it and get it certified in the government gazette.

He says he is wishing South Africans a peaceful election period.

“From now on we want to appeal for peaceful campaigning. There should be no confrontation; we should use this period to bring life to our democracy to give an opportunity to our people without being under duress.”
